First Wyndham Adventure

Wyndham Panama City Beach, Florida – Emerald Beach

Although we joined Club Wyndham in early 2020, we did not have the opportunity to use it due to COVID. I started exploring options in May of this year for something in late summer into fall. My husband and I wanted to try a few places outside of Florida, perhaps Nashville or something along the Atlantic seaboard. Unfortunately, nothing came up that excited us. We did see options in the Orlando market, but have been to that area almost annually, so looking for something different. What we really wanted was to visit Nashville to experience the music scene. Despite frequent attempts each month, I was not able to get a reservation at the Margaritaville property. Once autumn hit, I again explored a few options in some of the southern states. I did find an opening in Panama City Beach, Florida. Having never explored the Florida panhandle, we decided to give it a try.

Reservation Experience

Booking the reservation was straight forward once we decided on the type of room we wanted – we opted for a one-bedroom on the upper floor. We did look at the one-bedroom deluxe, but determined we had no need for the bunkbeds built into the hallway (I found that to be a bit peculiar). From the photos, the rooms overlooked the ocean – each room has a nice-size balcony overlooking the beach.

Confirmation & Communication

I received a confirmation immediately. In the month and weeks leading up, I received updates via e-mail. Approximately three weeks out, I received a text, letting me know that they would be doing some maintenance to the exterior of the building during our stay – would be limited to the hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Was offered the option to call for more information. Two weeks prior, I received a call from guest services. I almost did not answer the call as it came up as an 800 number, without ID. The guest services person confirmed my stay, dates, room type; also provided more details about the maintenance – exterior power washing and building repairs. All good. One week prior to departure, I receive an e-mail letting me know they were expecting us and things to do in the area, plus information about discounts we could received from local retailers and restaurants with our Wyndham wristband. A few days prior, I received a text regarding their curbside check-in.

We were ready to go!
